Wm. Dwight McKissic, Sr.
Rev. William Dwight McKissic, Sr. is founder and senior pastor of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Arlington, Texas. McKissic began the church in 1983 in a small garage with 15 in attendance, a vision and God’s divine favor. The church is blessed now with a weekly attendance averaging over 500 each Sunday.
McKissic was recently appointed as a National Baptist Convention, USA,board member. He served as the 11th Moderator of the Galilee Griggs Memorial District Association located in the Dallas-Fort Worth area from 2015-2019.
McKissic was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, in 1956. He is a 1978 graduate of Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. He has recently completed a Master of Theological Studies degree at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. In May 2010, he was awarded an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from Arkansas Baptist College in Little Rock, Arkansas.
He is the author of four books: Controversial Conversations; Kingdom Reflections on Biblical & Contemporary Issues; Beyond Roots: In search of Blacks in the Bible; Beyond Roots II, If Anybody Asks You Who I Am; and Moving From Fear to Faith. He has been cited in numerous publications and articles.
He and his wife, Vera, have four children and 13 grandchildren and reside in Arlington, Texas.
